About OpenID
There’s plenty information on the internet about OpenID, so I won’t go into myself.

About SLOpenID
If you’re not familiar with OpenID, please visit the links in the previous paragraph. If you’re not familiar with Second Life, read Linden Lab’s information on Second Life.
The “Vision”
To provide the Residents of Second Life a means to own their virtual identities via OpenID
What SLOpenID does
SLOpenID v3 currently only acts as an OpenID consumer, allowing the other Marvulous projects to use Residents’ existing OpenIDs, reinforcing the idea that OpenID saves a person from remembering a multitude of login credentials for each and every site they visit. For example, the sw.slr project uses the OpenID to turn the Resident profiles into OpenID delegates.
SLOpenID v2 used WordPress μ to provide Second Life Residents with an OpenID- this setup was retired due to lack of use in the WordPress features.
SLOpenID v1 (also referred to as the alpha stage) used a standalone PHP server, but it was found to be too cumbersome, and wasn’t really useful other than as an OpenID.
